And the way people come together in the way they engage with each other is probably even more profound than the physical change of it the river days festival draws nearly 150 000 people each summer and 3 million visitors come to the welcoming riverfront annually year-round programming and special events keep the community engaged

The space is host to frequent health and wellness seminars marathons and a literacy program the riverwalk has generated approximately 4.5 million dollars in annual tax revenue encouraged residential development downtown attracted and retained businesses and spurred investment one billion dollars worth of economic development in the first 10 years
