The 18 district plans have been completed and begun implementation before starting the Comprehensive Plan Update the Commission spearheaded a new zoning code that was adopted in 2011 other work by the pc pc includes the city’s first bicycle and pedestrian plan trails master plan center city parking survey and the brownfields area-wide

Plan perhaps the greatest accomplishment of the Commission is the increased community awareness about the importance of planning we have hundreds of community groups and other civic minded organizations that do volunteer work in their neighborhoods and we try to engage all of those groups in our planning process the citizens planning institute

Is the educational arm of the agency and offers popular courses on planning zoning and development stakeholders experience firsthand the role of planning in building and enriching communities the Commission employs a variety of outreach tools including social media and active listserv and a community seat on the Civic Design Review Board
