Meetings and the number one project that came from that was let’s make our River an amenity again the Scioto greenways project was born and an additional 35 million dollars in public private investment was raised the first phase of implementation included the removal of two dams which had rendered the river

Unnavigable now that it’s flowing again now that the river is cleaned itself we want folks to have an opportunity to actually use the river itself so kayakers the OSU rowing team folks are paddleboarding on the now opened in November 2015 the greenways consists of a thriving River ecosystem 33 acres of parkland and

Connecting bike paths it’s exciting to see this really becoming part not just of the cities in the counties but helping to drive development and excitement for the entire region not to mention the environmental improvements and now being able to navigate from The Ohio State University through downtown

All the way to the Audubon Park has been part of our plan in our dream that is now being realized the downtown Columbus riverfront projects have triggered an additional 1.4 billion dollars in private investment into downtown at neighborhoods surrounding the Scioto River over one point four million visitors now come to the riverfront

Annually the American Planning Association is proud to present the 2016 national planning Excellence Award for implementation to the downtown Columbus riverfront
